You must enjoy a fast paced work environment. Able to work in a team setting and multi-task. Enjoy educating and assisting clients in caring for their pets. Some evenings and 2 Saturdays a month are required.
Veterinary Technician Job requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand for duration of shift. (6-8 hours).
- Basic computer knowledge and typing.
- Experience in the field or in school/graduated from a veterinary technician/assistant program.
- Positive attitude.
Responsibilities:
- Obtaining chief complaint and detailed history for appointments.
- Client correspondence.
- Taking x-rays.
- Releasing patients from the hospital and going over release instructions.
- Getting authorization for refills, filling, calling Rx into pharmacies and explaining medications to clients.
- IV catheter placement and venipuncture (jugular, medial/lateral saphenous, cephalic, etc.)· I
- Injections. (SQ, IM and IV)
- Skin scrapes.
- Processing laboratory samples for in house analyzers and IDEXX laboratory.
- Analyzing: stool samples, ear cytology’s, skin scrapes, skin cytology, etc.
- Restraining dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments, birds and pocket pets.
- Inducing and monitoring anesthesia for routine and emergency surgical procedures.
- Applying and removing basic bandages.
- Light cleaning. (laundry, sweeping, moping, trash, dusting, cleaning cages and runs, etc)
- Ear cleaning, pedicures, anal gland expression and hygienic grooming.
- Maintaining and entering medical notes in electronic records using Cornerstone. Including generating surgery reports·
- Preforming DVM ordered treatments on hospitalized patients. (Fluids, injections, TPRs, etc.)·
- Weekend care of hospitalized patients.

Compensation based on experience.
Job Type: Full-time.
Salary: $18.00 to 24.00 per hour.
